a.      Where & what subject do you study?

I'm from KBU International College, B.A. (Hons) Graphic Design course.

b.      What do you do at Worthy Book?

I was given the tasks of creating template layouts for clients of the F&B Edition and designing ads for print and web for the Ladies Edition.

c.      How was the interview like?

It was a friendly, 'short and sweet' interview where I was briefed on the company profile and general services of Worthy Book.  Thankfully the interview was not as tense as what I would have initially thought out to be and it had me looking forward to working at Worthy Book after the interview was over.

d.      What have your learnt at Worthy Book?

I have learnt how to enhance designs for advertising better by looking at it from the clients’/consumers’ point of view, what attracts the public and the like. 

e.      What do you like most about working at Worthy Book?

Comfortable working environment, friendly staff and able to share ideas, opinions and tips openly. Apart from that I have gained more knowledge on certain computer programs that relate to the making of the designs.

f.        What are your favourite brands in Worthy Book Ladies Edition?

Xixili Lingerie Fashion Show

It was an absolute honour to be invited to Xixili’s Lingerie Show ‘Spring / Summer 2013 Fashion Show with the theme Once Upon A Fairy Tale, “Good vs. The Wicked”  on Thursday, 18 April 2013 at the happening Mid Valley Megamall, Centre Court. 

When we arrived, it was packed with VIPs, guests, as well as shoppers.  Some of the VIPs include YB Professor Dato Jimmy Choo, Winnie Loo (A Cut Above), Red FM DJ Jeremy Teo, entrepreneur Bob Chua and many others.  We were happy to indulge ourselves at the Somersby counter – what a refreshing drink it is!

After a while, Nadia Heng the brand ambassador for Xixili cum emcee for the night, welcomed the CEO of Xixili – Ms  Joanne Khoo.   We could sense the amount of hardwork she and her team has gone through to build a well-loved brand like Xixili.  She then invited her team on stage to open the event. 

After which, everyone was entertained by the superb and melodic singing of Syafinaz Selamat, who was elegantly dressed in red. 

The the moment that everyone was waiting for came – the models parading the Xixili range of lingerie!   Staying true to its theme, there were models showcasing the Good and the Wicked, with themes of Aladdin, Little Red Riding Hood and the stepmum etc. 

A highlight was the goodie bag which had lots of product samples and vouchers from popular brands like Strip, Juice Works, Privy, Body Perfect etc. 

We look forward to next year’s Lingerie Show from Xixili with much anticipation!

HiiChiiKok Foundation Charity Fundraiser

 We are happy to be one of the many sponsors for the HiiChiiKok Foundation’s 1^st Charity Fundraiser event at SEGi University, Kota Damansara Campus on 13 April 2013. 

In addition to Worthy Book, some of the sponsors included Celebrity Fitness, Focus Malaysia, RHB Bank, Optimax, AmBank, Great Eastern Life etc.

In the spirit of charity, we bought a book of quotes and 3 note books in support of the many noble objectives of HCK Foundation. 

The event, with the awesome slogan of “Clarity In Charity”, kicked off with a short speech by Datuk Sri Clement Hii, Founder of SEGi as well as Focus Malaysia. 

It was followed by some cool performances of magic by Edison, singing by lil starlet Crystal Lee, beatboxing by KouJee, violin by Dennis Lau etc. 

All in all, it was a heart-warming event and we look forward to be part of this charitable event in 2013.

Melissachens Skincare HQ Office Opening

Despite the rain, it did not deter the guests and media from attending Melissachens Skincare’s HQ office opening on 13 April 2013. 

All attendees were given a goodie bag, packed with a RM50 cash voucher, a skincare product, 2 towels and product brochures. 

At about 12 noon, the lovely Yi-Wen (emcee) invited the company’s founder, Melissa Chen to give her speech.   Melissa Chen is one with lots of passion in what she does best – Skincare.    This was followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony by the directors.  

We were then given a tour around the office.  It is an impressive building with 3 storeys incorporating a state of the art warehouse, demo room, presentation room, spa room etc.  This was followed by a presentation by Melissa Chen explaining Melissachens Skincare’s difference from other beauty brands, its R&D technology in Switzerland together with testimonials from happy customers, including a cute 10 year old Eurasian kid called Sam and finally a lucky draw session. 

Last but not least, after a sumptuous lunch, attendees were given a complimentary facial session! (hooray!)

Beautiful Face Workshop by WEVents

We were honoured to be one of the door gift sponsors to the Beautiful Face workshop given by The Body Shop via WEVents.  It was a fun and casual workshop where every participant was given some tips for makeup.  We were happy to meet up with popular beauty bloggers like Tammy Lim, Jess Lee and others.

Trivia:  The Body Shop products are never tested on animals. Love the quote: Choose Cruelty-Free Beauty!

The workshop was conducted by Haslinda and Ann from The Body Shop. They are both funny and lovely J.  It was as if we were back to school (Awh, we miss the moments in school!).

 We all stayed focused while they were doing the demo.

The most exciting part was the small makeup challenge where ladies were asked to self-makeup within 15minutes (Owh! It’s impossible!). We silently did our makeup and as time went by, the more nerve-wrecking it got.

The host made a last 10 seconds countdown and we bet there must be someone screaming silently.  Two among the beautiful ladies will be voted and win Body Shop Hampers.  They finally went to Angeline and Gwen as they have skillfully applied their makeup and also due to their high popularity.  Not all is lost for the others as every participant got a doorgift.

The doorgift includes Worthy Book vouchers as well as a moisturizing product sample sponsored by LipIce.

Worthy Book at SEGi Subang Jaya

On 19^th March, we visited SEGi College, Subang Jaya in conjunction with Valued Corporate Partnership Day. Worthy Book is proud to be acknowledged as one of SEGi Valued Corporate Partners together with several other companies, including BIG Group, BP Healthcare Group, Prudential and others.

Guess what!  Within 6 hours, we have successfully attracted hundreds of students to our booth.  Subway, Chilla Cup, Planet Popcorn, Crazy Potato, Ochado, Carl’s Jr, Boost Juice Bars, Kim Gary, Brotzeit, Shihlin Taiwanese Snacks, Ninja Joe and Wendy’s vouchers were most popular among the SEGi Subang Jaya students =)
